CAPA Tops 85 Million Certified Parts

Washington D.C. – The Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA), the global leader in aftermarket part certification, announces the certification of over 85 million parts. This number represents the total number of parts CAPA has certified since 1990.

CAPA Standard Part Type Examples Number of Parts
CAPA 101 Metal Parts Fenders, Hoods 44,000,000
CAPA 201 Plastic Parts Bumper Covers, Grilles 30,000,000
CAPA 301 Lighting Parts Headlamps, Taillamps 10,000,000
CAPA 501 Bumper Parts Front/Rear Bumpers, Energy Absorbers 1,000,000

In making the announcement, Jack Gillis, Executive Director of CAPA, said “This is a another major milestone for CAPA as we continue toward the 100 million mark. It’s a tribute to the commitment of the manufacturers who choose to CAPA certify their parts, and thereby meet CAPA’s comprehensive standards, which CAPA makes available to the public.”

Debbie Klouser, CAPA’s Director of Operations added, “CAPA’s priority has always been to ensure that high-quality, certified aftermarket parts are an option for insurers, repairers, and consumers. The bright yellow and blue CAPA quality seal, every one with a unique number for traceability, lets the industry know it can depend on the safety, performance, and reliability of parts that are CAPA Certified.”

The Certified Automotive Parts Association, founded in 1987, is the nation’s only independent, non-profit, certification organization for automotive crash parts whose sole purpose is to ensure that both consumers and the industry have the means to identify high quality parts via the CAPA Quality Seal. CAPA is an ANSI accredited standards developer for competitive crash repair parts. For more information see CAPAcertified.org.
