ABPA Member Highlight: Pro Parts Center, Houston, TX

By Ed Salamy, Executive Director, ABPA

Houston, TX – While in town to attend the services for the late ABPA Executive Director, Stan Rodman, I had the opportunity to meet up with local ABPA member, Pro Parts Center. Pro Parts is owned and operated by Tommy Wong, a dedicated parts professional who has been in the aftermarket collision parts industry for over 20 years.

Located in a commercial district in northern Houston, Pro Parts has been at this location for over 10 years and previously was in both San Antonio and McAllen. From this facility, Tommy and his staff service most of Texas through their dedicated fleet of delivery trucks.

Tommy is a great host; not only did he come on his day off at 8AM on a Saturday morning to give me a facility tour, he also brought breakfast! Breakfast burritos are huge in Texas and he was kind enough to bring me authentic fare from a local vendor.

After our quick breakfast, Tommy brought me through his facility for a tour. Up front, a large showroom has multiple workstations for employees to assist walk-in customers and to handle the incoming calls from the body shops. On display were many of the different part types that they offer for their customers. For me, the highlight of his facility must be his clean, well-stocked warehouse. What struck me as most impressive was their full selection of certified parts. This is not an accident; Tommy has shifted his business in recent years to cater to the large population of MSO shops in his area. These customers demand quality certified parts when available and Pro Parts is meeting the demand.

We wrapped up the tour with Tommy showing me some of the delivery vehicles he has out back. Although I was in town for a sad occasion, it was great to get out and meet another one of our proud ABPA members!
