On January 10, 2025, the ABPA submitted opposition to New York State Assembly Bills A75 (2025) and A245 (2025).
Bill A75 proposes to mandate the exclusive use of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement crash parts for vehicles within their first three years of manufacture or for the duration of the OEM warranty. Additionally, it requires written consent from the vehicle owner for the use of non-OEM parts in repairs, which we believe could confuse and mislead consumers.
Bill A245 would impose restrictions based on OEM repair procedures that mandate the exclusive use of OEM-branded parts in vehicle repairs.
