Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of TYC Americas’ new manufacturing and technology center in Wixom, MI. The new facility, “TYC Americas – Michigan Mobility Center”, represents a major step forward in TYC’s U.S. presence. While TYC has long been known to ABPA members for its aftermarket and OE manufacturing operations in Taiwan and China, this new Wixom plant will initially focus on OEM production—complementing their global capabilities and strengthening their North American footprint.
I was genuinely impressed by the overall operation. Speaking with several of TYC’s newly hired employees, it was clear that they bring deep manufacturing expertise and are supported by advanced technology, including robotics. The facility tour was arranged across nine stations, showcasing TYC’s capabilities in areas such as 3D printing, metallization, and photometrics.

After the tour, attendees enjoyed lunch and a series of remarks from senior TYC leadership, who shared their vision for the Wixom site as both a manufacturing hub and a key part of TYC’s global strategy.
It was also great to reconnect with familiar faces from TYC’s aftermarket group, well known to ABPA members—Jim Winter, Joe Kao, Taufik Kodir, and Thomas Lipscomb—who were all in attendance and proudly representing the company.
Overall, the grand opening highlighted TYC’s ongoing commitment to building capacity in North America, advancing technology, and supporting a stronger, more resilient supply chain.
