The collision repair and automotive parts community is saddened to learn of the passing of Clark Walter Plucinski, a respected leader whose influence extended across CAPA, CREF, and virtually every corner of the automotive repair ecosystem.
Clark, 75, passed away on November 29, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong Maryland resident, he was known for his warmth, humor, and ability to make everyone feel welcome — qualities that complemented his extraordinary professional impact.
As Chair of the Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA), Clark was instrumental in strengthening the credibility and technical rigor of certified aftermarket parts. His leadership helped ensure access to safe, high-quality, affordable components — a mission he championed throughout his career.
Clark was also a dedicated supporter of the Collision Repair Education Foundation (CREF), working to expand resources for collision repair schools and improve training opportunities for students entering the industry. His passion for education and workforce development shaped countless careers.
Over more than 50 years, Clark co-owned successful repair businesses, mentored rising professionals, and served on numerous boards, including I-CAR, ASA, CREF, CAPA, and the Washington Metropolitan Auto Body Association. His contributions earned many honors, including the I-CAR Founders Award, ASA Special Achievement Award, and induction into the Hall of Eagles.
Clark is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Kellie; son, Craig, and daughter-in-law, Lizzie; and his cherished grandchildren, Miller and Cameron.
Services will be held on January 9, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Rockville, MD, with a reception at Manor Country Club to follow. The family requests donations to CREF or All For Recovery.
