Turn Unwanted Vehicles into Community Impact Through the NABC Keys for Change Program

The Automotive Body Parts Association (ABPA) is encouraging members and industry stakeholders to consider participating in the NABC Changing and Saving Lives Foundation® Keys for Change vehicle donation initiative.

The program provides businesses and individuals with an easy way to donate unwanted vehicles while supporting programs that make a meaningful difference in communities across the country. Eligible donations include cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, and boats, with complimentary nationwide vehicle pickup and processing provided at no cost to the donor. Donated vehicles may be running or non-running, making the program an ideal solution for unwanted or low-value vehicles.

Proceeds from donated vehicles help fund two signature initiatives of the National Auto Body Council®:

  • NABC Recycled Rides®, which provides refurbished vehicles to veterans, active-duty military members, and individuals and families facing transportation challenges.
  • NABC F.R.E.E.™ (First Responder Emergency Extrication), which delivers hands-on training to first responders, helping them safely rescue occupants from today’s increasingly complex vehicles.

Many companies throughout the automotive aftermarket regularly encounter vehicles that have reached the end of their useful life, low-value trade-ins, aging fleet vehicles, mechanic’s lien vehicles, or other units that may no longer have significant commercial value. Rather than simply disposing of these vehicles, businesses can instead convert them into meaningful support for programs that benefit individuals and communities nationwide.

The donation process is simple:

  • Submit a vehicle donation request online.
  • Schedule a complimentary vehicle pickup.
  • The vehicle is picked up and processed.
  • Receive a tax-deductible donation receipt.

The ABPA encourages members to consider whether their organization—or customers, business partners, employees, friends, or family members—may have vehicles that could be donated through the program. Even a single donated vehicle can help support reliable transportation for families in need or provide life-saving training for first responders.

The ABPA is proud to support initiatives that strengthen our industry while making a positive impact on the communities we serve. We encourage our members and industry partners to consider whether an unwanted vehicle could become an opportunity to change—and even save—a life.
