In this session, Mr. O’Day will be having a Q&A discussion with ABPA Chairman Chris Northup to review the current business landscape of the Boyd Group which oversees Gerber Collision, one of the major MSO chains in the US and Canada. Topics to be reviewed include:

  • The challenges of modern day parts procurement and supply chain issues, the effect on cycle time and WHIP
  • The importance of competition in the repair parts space
  • How will the use of alternative parts change in the future for MSO and DRP centers

Justin will give a legislative and regulatory update on the automotive right to repair debate taking place at the federal level in Washington

Attendees will hear from Brandon not only on the latest CREF initiatives around supporting high school/college collision programs and students nationwide but also exciting new projects that will spotlight the industry to K-12 school counselors and a car rebuild fundraiser that will fund a national PSA campaign which will showcase the industry on TV, radio, and online!

Update on the CAPA Program from Clark Plucinkski, Chairman of CAPA. Following Clark, CAPA-Intertek staff will take the stage and play a game of CAPA-RDY (quiz game) – an interactive session to test your knowledge of CAPA-Intertek.

Tractable’s AI and computer vision. An overview and demonstration of computer vision for damage detection and selection of parts replacement.
3:00 pm – 4:00 pm Gerry Poirier, Farmers Insurance & NABC
Gerry will update attendees on the parts procurement program at Farmers as well the current issue of part shortages and how it affects insurers. Also an update on the National Auto Body Council (NABC) will be provided.

7:00 pm – 10:00 pm Dinner Cruise – ABPA Attendees will enjoy an evening of great food, cocktails, and music aboard the 140 foot yacht, “Endless Dreams”! This three hour cruise around Newport Beach Harbor is not to be missed. Included in your ABPA registration package!

Keynote: Mr. Pollack will discuss a variety of port issues that are affecting ABPA members including detentions and delays, value issues, ITC complaints and how to offset duties.
10:00 am – 11:00 am Kevin Wolford, Automotive Manufacturers Equipment Compliance Agency (AMECA)
Attendees will receive an overview of certification, what it is, why companies should want it, and why they should want to purchase certified products. A review of the hierarchy of standards bodies, the different types of certification, and an overview of what you want in your certification body will also be provided.

Tim O’Day, Boyd Group Services Inc

Mr. O’Day is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Group Services Inc. In his role, Mr. O’Day has overall responsibility for the affairs of Boyd, including strategy, operations and performance. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors of Boyd Group Services, he also serves as the Immediate Past Chair of the Board of I-CAR. Earlier in his career, he was with Midas International, where he was elevated to Vice President, Western Division, and responsible for a territory that encompassed 500 locations.

Justin Rzepka, Consumer Access to Repair (CAR) Coalition

Justin is a Principal at BGR Government Affairs and is Co-Chair of the Commerce practice. He performs a key role in the Group’s robust practice that includes telecommunications, technology, transportation, infrastructure and energy. Justin also serves as the Executive Director of the CAR Coalition – a collection of independent parts-makers, insurers and retailers that supports the passage of both the SMART Act and the REPAIR Act.

Brandon Eckenrode, Collision Repair Education Foundation (CREF)

Eckenrode, who has worked within the collision industry for 20 years, joined CREF’s development team in 2009 to help lead its transformation into a traditional philanthropic organization. Serving as Director of Development since 2012, Eckenrode has driven strong industry partnerships to support collision training programs and their students, helping raise more than $300 million for collision repair education since 2009.

Greg Horn, PartsTrader

Greg will discuss the latest news and trends impacting the collision repair industry, including an update on parts delivery trends. Greg is the Chief Innovation Officer at PartsTrader and will have a hand in shaping new product vision and data reporting. Greg brings years of insight working in different roles – especially on the insurance side – and his industry insight brings value to attendees.

Stacy Bartnik, Certified Aftermarket Parts Association (CAPA)

Stacy Bartnik is the Intertek Aftermarket Industry Relations Manager for CAPA. In this role she is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key industry stakeholders. Ms. Bartnik has worked in many segments of the collision industry, including Vice President of Operations for a franchise organization, Association Executive Director, Shop Estimator, General Manager, Insurance Adjuster, Trainer and Consultant. Ms. Bartnik was inducted into the Collision Industry Hall of Eagles in 2010.

Jimmy Spears, Tractable AI

Jimmy is the Head of Automotive for Tractable, which develops artificial intelligence for accident and disaster recovery. Prior to Tractable, he led the USAA Auto Experience and the USAA Global Auto Physical Damage operations and strategy. Before that, he led the Strategic Initiatives team at Farmers Insurance and served on staff at Nationwide Insurance. His presentation will provide an overview and demonstration of computer vision for damage detection and selection of parts replacement.

Gerry Poirier, Farmers Insurance

Gerry is the National APD manager of Strategy and Process for Farmers Insurance. During his presentation, Gerry will update attendees on the parts procurement program at Farmers as well the current issue of part shortages and how it affects insurers.

Elon Pollack, Stein Shostak Shostak Pollack & O’Hara

Phi Delta Phi. Lecturer, “Importing & Exporting Wearing Apparel,” University of California at Los Angeles, 1986. Instructor, Global Logistics Specialist Program, California State University, Long Beach, 1997 to date. Has qualified and testified as an expert witness in federal and state court proceedings concerning customs law matters.
