On January 31, 2024, the ABPA submitted opposition to Idaho Senate Bill 1233 (2024), expressing concerns about the potential consequences it may have on consumers and the automotive industry in Idaho.
The bill proposes a restriction against the use of aftermarket collision repair parts by requiring a disclosure statement in insurance-funded repairs that insinuates these parts are inferior to original equipment parts. We believe that any bill language that misleads consumers and restricts the use of alternative parts could lead to a monopolistic environment detrimental to Idaho vehicle owners.
